You define yourself
Labels and diagnoses can open doors — but they can also shrink people into boxes drawn by someone else. NDMDs is not here to test you or gatekeep who “counts” as neurodivergent. We care about how you experience your mind, your senses, and your place in medicine — because that knowledge belongs to you first.
In academic literature, the power to define a group and its members is called epistemological authority. The neurodivergent community has often had to fight to retain it, when diagnosis is expensive, slow, and framed around deficit. Here, you define your own experiences — we are peers, not gatekeepers.
You define your own experiences. How you sense your surroundings, how you interact with the world, how you are in this moment. That definition is something that can never be written by anyone but you.
Take a breath when you need one. However you show up in tutorials, on placement, or in quiet moments alone — your perspective is yours to name. We are glad you are here.
